mcruiz Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Hi all,Very helpful forum from what I've read! My query is this:I've got a 2.0i Xantia 16V estate and would like to replace the seats(front and rear. Leather would be nice!!). Am I stuck with just the exact model or would any other Citroen model have seats that fit? I've been told that its possible that some Peugoet models may fit. Any truth in that? All the very best........ Quote
Kr1s Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 I would only buy xantia seats to be sure of a good fit - I havent heard of any others fitting ...? Quote
bulletcom Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Would Mk2 seats fit in a Mk1? My drivers seat hinge at the base is damaged (from what I hear it's a common problem) - I figure a later model seat would last longer given that it's newer, and may have had modifications done? Secondly, the Mk2 seats have airbags, presume leaving these disconnected in my Mk1 wouldn't hurt? David. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Hi Folks. I'm not sure if the seats will go right in, runners & all, but I've had the seats apart on both the Xantia and tha lad's ZX to put strips of carpet tile between the springs and the foam to add a bit more support now they're getting on a bit (The seats that is!) There is a subframe between the seat and the runners which can be removed and the holes in both the seats, Xantia and ZX looked to be very similar spacings. I know that the height adjusting mechanism on a 406 is the same as the Xantia, so I would assume the subframe and base would also be similar. I found a good Peugeot/Citroen Breakers a while back in Ebay http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/NCS-PEUGEO...3206545QQsofpZ0who may be able to supply seats etc, I remember asking the guy about it and he said the carriage made the sale of seats and stuf prohibitive over the net, but he had ones for collection. All told, it's probably best sticking with a Xantia as a donor, as you'll be able to get the door cards as well if the seat upholstery doesn't match what you have. Also you'll be sure they'll fit. As for putting in the Mk2 seats in a Mk 1, it shouldn't be a problem leaving the Airbags disconnected, but bear in mind that the mk1s had seatbelt pretensioners which were fired from the same source. May just be a matter of connecting them to that Circuit. You could always ask at your local dealers for advice on that one. Cheers. Hope this helps. :D Quote
bulletcom Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Hey Colin - edit your post and remove that link, that's the one i'm looking at!!!! Thanks for the info - are the pretensioners on the seat itself or the seatbelt mechanism? David Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Hi David! Link removed as requested but only one bidder! I assume it's you! :D Just got a cracking bargain off ebay myself. Brand new replacement seat base for my Picasso in the correct trim for £9.95 + P&P! Price at the dealers is £215! Who say's there's no bargains left! I was looking for covers as there's a fag burn on the passy seat and found the correct base instead! Cracking! Here's a link to the seat cover place I found. http://www.gbdriver.co.uk/acatalog/Citroen...ade-To-Fit.html The Pretensioners are part of the seat base. There is a cylinder with a plunger attached to a cable, The cable forms the seat belt buckle anchor. When the Pyro in the cylinder fires, it drives the piston forwards and pulls the cable, so shortening the belt. One thing you have to be carefull of when disconnecting the pretensioners and airbags, is to disconnect the battery first and wait 10 to 15 mins before touching the connections. This allows any residual voltage to disipate. Also don't try "testing" any of the circuits with a multimeter as that's apparently enough to set them off! Cheers. Hope this helps :D Quote
bulletcom Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Thanks Colin! No, the bid's not me but I'm tempted and didn't want a queue! So if I kept the seatbase from the Mk1 and just changed the seat itself, best of both worlds? Bet it's not as simple as that! Regards, David Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Hello again. The seats aren't too bad to change around. When I got the P reg ZX for the lad to learn in the driver's seat was knackered. I found a decent interior in a scrapped J reg 1.6 Aura which I got for £50. Both Front seats, rear seat and door cards. It was a bit grubby but no tears or other damage and it all shampooed up like new! Thing was that the P reg had pretensioners and the J reg not, so I had to change over the seat bases from the Elation seats to the Aura ones. The front seats are in 3 main parts. The seat itself. The subframe or base which fits between the seat and the runners and which can be fixed as in the ZX or height adjustable as in the Xantia. This part also houses the pretensioners/seat belt buckle anchor point. The runners. They are held together by "Torx" screws which are easily accessible once the seats are removed and inverted. If you get seats out of another Xantia they'll go right in with no need to change anything. It's possible that others may also fit. Here's a few breakers sites you could try.http://www.partsgateway.co.uk/http://www.cit-ren.co.uk/http://www.pugcit.co.uk/http://www.247spares.co.uk/There are loads more, and if you do a search in google for you area you may find what you're looking for. Cheers. Hope this helps. :( Quote
