eloceo Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Anyone come across a worn bearing type rumbling/grumbling sound at approx 1800-2000rpm, when unloading power. Can't hear it when accelerating through the band. It sounds like a worn alternator bearing (or turbo?), but according to local dealer (who says he can hear it) says its nothing to worry about until it gets worse - not very comforting. Its a December 06 VTR+ Diesel 110hp done about 6000 miles but sound has been with me since about 3000miles. Any ideas... :P Quote
C4VTS Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Don't know what it could be, but have you looked under the bonnet and had a good look around for anything unusual, and made sure everything looks secure? Quote
hertsnminds Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 approx 1800-2000rpm That is the part of the rev band where the turbo starts to kick in. My 55 diesel 110hp changed as the engine loosened up. Noticed changes in MPG and what gears could be used at different revs, where the car pulled etc just after the 10k miles and 20k miles. Not noticed any strange noises. Why not try to find another 110hp diesel on your dealers forecourt and ask if you can test drive it to see if it sounds similar. IanBlack 55 VTR+ Quote
