idlerobbo Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Sorry if this has been posted before - I seem to remember seeing it (before I had sat nav so didnt look!) but cant find it now. Is there something in the windscreen of Cirtoen cars that prevent a valid signal being recieved? I have a Tom Tom One now and although it works fine it sometimes takes a long time to find a signal and once or twice it has lost the signal (sods law its always in an important part!). If this is the case is there anything I can do to prevent it? Also are there any guides for feeding the charger cable in a discrete way online? Quote
wozza Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Theres a coating to help prevent the interior getting hot. It doesnt help that much but thats what causes the problems. It does usually find the signal eventually though. Near the rear view mirror the black patterned part of the window is usually fine for getting a signal on though. Quote
C4VTS Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 You can get an external aerial for some of the TomTom products, but maybe not the TTOne? For this reason, I use a seperate bluetooth GPS receiver in the glovebox which gets good signal there, and TT Navigator on my phone or PDA. Quote
wozza Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Where did you get your GPS receiver from mate? Looking for one for my PDA so I can get TomTom on there. Quote

Mat Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I bought my bluetooth off ebay a couple of years ago (then to work with my Nokia N70), for less than £50. It works just as well with my VarioII running TomTom and MultiMap perfectly. I store the GPS in the little drawer - it fits pefectly, you cant see the power cable which i have wired tidily behind the steering column, through a hole i drilled in the back of the drawer. The GPS gets a good signal in the drawer, and the on/off button and status LEDs are on the top, meaning i never have to take the GPS out of the drawer. When i leave the car, i shut the drawer, and take my phone with me, making it completely secure.http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g222/matcapel/IMG_254922.jpg Quote
