Guest Mike Holroyd Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Hi folk, can someone out there help please? I have installed a Nokia cark 126 handsfree kit into my 2002 Picasso 2.0HDI SX, but cannot locate the wire on the back of the head unit to mute the radio. Does anyone out there know which wire I need to connect the mute cable from the handsfree kit to? Any help would be greatly appreciated.ThanksMike Quote
iannez Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 the mute does not have a wire in the multi plug so you will need to bare the end of the mute wire and shove it into the plug untill it makes contact with the pin on the back of the set. the best way to find the mute is with a test lamp with an earth wire. earth the wire on the lamp and then push the other end of the lamp into the empty holes on the multi plug. when you find the right one the radio will mute and the symbol will come up on the screen. doing this through the bulb in the test lamp will stop you shorting anything out so dont do this with just a piece of wire. think its pin 4 in the multi plug but not 100%. iannez Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 dalex. mike has only had one post and that was this one. some people only come on forum when they have a problem and do not return once they have been told the answer. not even to say thanks. just follow the steps from my previous post and you will sort it. this method works with any set on any car as long as the radio has a phone mute. Hi Jannez, Thanks for the advise (I think)Just come back to citroen last week after many years with Fiat, so please excuse any lapse in protocol. From the previous post can I assume that using a bulb in the circuit will offer the protection should I stick the probe on the wrong pin. iannez Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 yes mate. theres only a couple of empty holes in the plug so you will have no probs finding the right one. all the phone kit does is send a earth to the set to mute it. make sure the set is pluged in and turned on so you will know when you find the right one.
