cpdavis Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Hi, All, Could anyone please advise if the rectification of this very erratic display is expensive. Despite parking on level ground, I never seem to get the same reading twice. Sometimes showing full, half or empty, these results after overnight parking. The real dipstick shows reading one mark from full, this is after recent service where I added 4 litres of new oil which is slightly over the requirement of 3.8 litres according to Haynes manual. The reason I ask is that this car has two months left of Citroen approved warranty, but the logistics of arranging this are a pain in the rear! Regards and Thanks, Colin. :P Quote
iannez Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 just use the dipstick. the oil level sensors are crap and never read right. you will probably have the same problem after a few thousand miles even if tou have a new one fitted. we've had qute a few ppl in due to over filling because they take notice of the guage rather than the dipstick. stimulator Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 When I bought my C3 HDI SX 16V 92BHP I was pleased to see an oil level read out ont he dash. however i have learnt to use it as a guide over the 2.8 years I've had the car. When all the o are lit the car dip stick shows FULL but after a few weeks the display shows one less 0 but the dip stick remains all most on the full. Even when I saw two unlit 0 I could only get 1/8 litre of oil in the sump before the stick showed full. So now it's just a guide when it's left for a week on return it will show full, but after a overnight stand it is usual one 0 short. Quote
