cslogg Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I dont know if other owners will agree but the C1 radio has not got the best sound in the world,it seems a bit tinny.Halfords are doing a Kenwood CD radio for around £80 that I quite fancy. Is it easy enough to fit a new radio or is the C1 not a standard fitting.Or if anyone can tell me a cheaper/easier method to get better sound I would be grateful. ging32 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 To be honest I wouldn't bother messing around with a new stereo. The poor sound quality is just down to the speakers which are restricted in their range as they are tiny drivers. Why not go to a specialist and see about having some better speakers put in the parcel shelf or if you can get better quality speakers for the dash. Quote
cslogg Posted June 15, 2007 Author Posted June 15, 2007 OK, I did not realise it was down to the speakers.I shall see what I can do. cslogg Quote
Cam Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Anyone know if the cd player plays CD-R and CD-RW or will I have to go out and buy loads of originals? Quote

107 Codf Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 It is very easy to remove. Locate the nob for your fan speed setting and pull it gently then unscrew the screw underneath, the the whole unit pretty much comes out from there. Though I must agree the front speakers, located were windscreen meets dash are the best to replace I got two 4" speakers from Hal frauds for under £20 (Alpine too) All you need extra is male and female spade! Easy job! Quote
acra Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I replaced mine recently with a pair of XT42-ND. They only just fit in, but work okay...ish. The trouble is, the left speaker makes a vibration with any bass at all, the left cover no longer stays fixed down, and both speakers are fairly tinny (more so than before), although the last problem is probably due to the dodgy way I've connected them... 107 Codf Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 How did you do it? If I remember correctly u unplug the white connecter then cut the wire from connector strip it back and use spades I think the colours are Blue connector -, Red connector +. but please double check. Pink wire + Dark Purple wire -. Quote

ColinC1 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 CDR's do work but can skip if you go over a bump, whereas origional CD's do not. This happens on most cars, not just C1's. Quote
