toblerone Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Daughter's C1 got hit by uninsured idiot on a provisional licence. Police involved and dealing but how can I claim back the £550 excess? Civil action? Needs new wing and front bumper :P Sorry to hear that, I hope she is ok. I'm not sure on the ins and outs but have you looked at the MIB (Motor Insurance Bureau) they deal with claims against uninsured drivers. Maybe your insurance company could advise ? If your with Direct Line they don't make you pay any excess or loose NCB if your hit by an uninsured driver and its not your fault. You could take civil action against him through the county courts, though if he has no licence or insurance I doubt he will eb able to pay your compensation. Hope you get it sorted. Quote
citroeneddie Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 Thanks Toblerone for your welcome advice, daughter is fine. Just been to cop shop where uninsured car has been imponded and it was an 07 plate so someone must have insured to get it. Thanks again, I'll keep all informed if I learn any more. citroeneddie Posted July 11, 2007 Author Posted July 11, 2007 Just got C1 back today, total bill including VAT is £1400 ouch. Biggest part cost was new headlamp which had a tiny scratch at £120 plus VAT. Still awaiting Police report on other driver, that will run and run presumably. Quote
iannez Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 toblerone is right. it takes a while to come through but if you know who it was who caused the accident you should be able to make a claim. go here for more info. http://www.mib.org.uk/Default.htm Quote
citroeneddie Posted July 12, 2007 Author Posted July 12, 2007 Thanks Iannez. Keep up the good work. Eddie BTW, which area of the country are you based? Quote

jw191 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I was involved in an accident in Jan of this year. Someone crashed on a dual carraigeway late at night, smashed the front of their car against the central barrier and ended pointing in the wrong direction in the fast lane with no lights on, which was great as it was winter and 9pm so it was dark, and the road had no street lighting. Anyway I hit him, and being a dual caraigeway and travelling at dual carragieway speeds, suffice to say the C1 was a write off. The police report has only just been released (9 months later) so I'm affraid you may be in for a long wait. I can vouch for the C1's safety, although the roof didn't seem too sturdy (the main impact was lateral and the momentum caused the whole roof to bend approx 4" to one side), so wouldn't want to roll one. I was able to walk away - although did need a few months of physio on my back and neck. Quote

Although the C1's roof moves, the Saxo's roof gets completely reshaped - and that's only a 40mph crash. Quote

Guest Very angry at Yeomans Citr Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 However, I do really need your help. I am a driving instructor by trade, and on the 6th September 2007, I ordered a new Citroen C1 Vibe from Yeomans Citroen of Plymouth, complete with dual controls supplied and fitted by Yeomans. This car, which I WAS really pleased with, I stress the WAS, was delivered to me on the 19th September 2007. So, there I am, out giving lessons in this shiney new Citroen C1 in the Devon area until today. I was teaching at the Westpoint driving centre in Exeter with a new student, who did not quite master steering, and making a right turn, he did not turn the wheel enough, so went to do what I always did in that situation, go for the dual brake control. No sooner did I do that, the dual brake pedal collapsed to the floor of the car, resulting in complete brake failure, and before I knew what was going on, BANG, CRASH, WALLOP! The car ended up impailed on a one foot high metal post, which damaged the sump, wishbones, front bumper, oil pump and filter, radiator, driver's side wheel and tyre, the list goes on. All this due to failure of a critical componant on the car, namely the instructor's dual controls. My question is, what do I do now, are Yeomans at fault for incorrect fitting of the dual controls in the first place? Many thanks for your help in advance. Quote
citroeneddie Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 Just a quick update, my daughter get her £400 excess back today out of the blue. The other party was insured apparently, but I think they decided to settle instead of being prosecuted. Thanks for all your support and comments. Regards Eddie Quote
