Mike5483 Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Anybody know if there is an area or joint etc that is suspectible to faults on this system??? My car keeps showing this fault. It did come on and go off randomly, but now its on all the time. I assume its a loose connection, but have checked all the plugs and they all look ok. Any other suggestions. Its got to go in soon anyway to get the heater looked at. Quote
iannez Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 slide the front seats back and forward and see if it goes off. xsara's and saxo's used to suffer a lot from this fault and had a picasso with the same fault last week and that turned out to be the plug under the passanger seat. Quote

Cheers Ian. Ive borrowed some WD40 from work, so Im going to go through all the plugs, give a quick clean and squirt and see what happens. Quote
iannez Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 dubs40 contains silicone (non conductor) so might make matters worse. best way without removing the plug is, if you disconnect the plugs you will notice on the female plug 2 realy small flaps. lift the flaps with a pick or a pin and you will see a sprung bit of metal underneath that raises and keeps pressure on the male plug terminals when its inserted. just bend these down further so they apply more pressure to the terminals. make sure you have the plug disconnected or you will not be able to bend them. the plug is a bit awkward to disconnect so be careful as they break easy. Goon Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 You need to get yourself some spray on contact cleaner - about £5 from your local motor factor. Quote
hertsnminds Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 On Fiat airbag/tensioner systems it used to be the case that if you disconnected the plugs under the seats and plugged them back in again while the battery was still connected you had to have the system reset with the Fiat diagnostic computer as it thought there had been a system activation which required a dealer intervention i.e new airbag or tensioner detination system. I didnt use the WD in the end. Anyway, put them back together and it went off. I went out a little later and it came on again then went off as I drove away and its been off ever since. I think the fault is on the drivers seat. I have no proof of this, its a bit of a gut feeling. Keeping my eye on it, but all the time there is no fault, there isnt much to look for. Thanks for all your help, I shall reply back if I find out anything further. Quote
Mike5483 Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Doh, it came back again today and then went off again. The drivers seat had been moved again. Im sure its the drivers seat. Will have to wait til its dry to have a proper look. Quote

(obviously if the car is still in warrenty land it back!) Quote
iannez Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 agree. i just cut them out and solder them together but just thought it would be easier for him to try and tighten the plug. Quote
Goon Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 If you do, use a good quality heatshrink, not insulating tape. I stll think you'll be suprised if you use the contact cleaner. If used it on everything from light plugs to engine bay fuse boards and it really does the job. Lee Quote

Ill try everything else first and if not, I'll let Citroen do it. No argument over warrenty etc then. Quote
flat2themat Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Tbh I wouldnt even use solvent cleaner, its under warrenty so its their problem! lol And I definately wouldnt solder it if still in warrenty (just incase!) Quote
