Tom R Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 is it possible to change the clutch plate on a 2.1td with the engine in situ?According to Citroen, you should be able to move the gearbox toward the left hand side (after removing the engine mounting) and change the clutch without removing the engine OR the gearbox ??Tom Quote
tsx080 Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 i recently replaced the entire gearbox on a 2.1td xm it was done without removing the engine however i now have the problem that i think i may have put the friction plate in the wrong direction  does anyone know if this will cause a problem? Tom R Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 That would not be possible as the clutch friction plate has a large centre boss which, if assembled the wrong way round would stop the friction material contacting the flywheel. So, if you can engage the clutch, you have it assembled correctly.Alkso, there would be a 'grinding' noise of metal against metal! Quote
