Time Clock/ Temp Monitor

Any one had this problem!
I have a 98 1.9TD.
It seems that my temp / time clock decides to reset itself every couple of days, more noticable on sunny days although more recently during the cold spell, Ive noticed that when I start the car lately the digits disappear and after some time fade back in but with the clock reset to 12:00
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Sounds like a lose lead.

Any LCD watch or calculator looses digits when the battery is fading. The fact your display is returning but reset suggests the clock is losing power and then getting it back.
