oldscoobye Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 Hi, anybody got any ideas on heating issues with C5 HDIs (SX) I have to set the temperature controls (dual control model) to 28 (Maximum) before I get anything resembling heat from the vents and even then it is only luke warm. I have also noticed that the outside temerature reading in the trip computer displaying is reading a mimimum of 10 degrees higher than the actual outside temerpature. Are the two related?Any advice greatfully received. The car is a 2001 model with only 34000 miles up.Cheers Quote
pork_pie Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 If the unit is set to "Auto" then the system tries to create an air flow temperature that closely matches to that set by yourself. When auto is set: If the cabin temperature is cold then the air flow temperature will be very warmAlternately, if the cabins boiling hot and the selector is set to max, no heated air wil be belched into the cabin. Try the system with automatic system switched off.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ere hold on. Is there anything in your handbook to suggest that auto facilitiy oes not work when the temperature selector is set at both extremes? Either way, don't bother with the auto facility. ---------------------------------------------------------- Temparature display? Get the sensor checked/cleaned. Quote
Albourneboy Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 The reading from the outside air temperature sensor is used by the C5's air con system to help regulate the air temperature inside the car. When the sensor fails, it would appear that it goes into some sort of grossly over-reading mode (mine is currently showing anywhere between 46 and 72 degrees C!!! in the UK!!! in December!!!!). Hopefully, replacing the sensor will sort things out but as yet, I am unable to get the car in the dealers - they are too busy. I spoke to the dealer yesterday and they said that all they would do is pop off the wing mirror cover, replace the sensor, pop on the cover and job done. The sensor can be seen poking out of a hole in the bottom of the left hand door mirror but as for 'popping off' the cover, I have had a look and can't see how this can be done. If anyone has any ideas, let me know - it could save me £30 in labour charges. Back to your problem - get the sensor replaced but in the meantime, switch off the air-con and don't use auto mode. You will probably still have to turn the temp settings up high but at least you should get some heat from the system Quote
