Does anyone's with an HDI-16 SX (in blue) tell them how much oil is in the engine when they turn the key?
Mine does not, and the Lx I borrowed does. The dealer tried to get it to work but failed. ;)
I met someone who has owned Citroens for 30 years. He never had problems like me. Why me? :(

Eh?

Don't you get a display the moment you turn the key that looks like this and then disappears the engine fires up?

o o o o o o
min max

There are two points in the dip stick and the display monitors the oil level between the points so if the oil level is between the two , you get:

o o o - - -
min max.

When the level is this, i add a litre of oil.

Every C3 has it including yours.
If your dealer is being a flid, kick him in the nads.

Your drawings are accurate, but mine does not have it. They did try to make it work, but it doesn't.
I'm slowly putting together a web site as i am really anoyed about my car.
if i could afford it i would trade it in.

Rang Citroen UK, found out that my C3 warrenty can be used ant any dealer, even though the last year is "Dealer" warrenty. So, since Telfords cannot fix the oil guage, lets see if Ellis Davis can.

I've not noticed it using any oil, but after the cam job the car wasn't filled full of oil.

But after Ellis Davis looked at it, they said it needs a sensor. Don't really understand why Telfords could find that other than Ellis telling me its at the back of the engine and difficult to get to. lazyness?

Oil consumption HDi 16 valve? At 6500 miles I've just needed to add about 0.8 litres.

The dashboard oil indicator at that point was indicating 1 blob - the dipstick about 2/3 towards the lower level indicator.

After adding the oil the dashboard indicator was indicating 'Overfull' until the engine was run for a minute or two, which isn't quite good for peace of mind. However, it's now settled at three/four blobs though, and dipstick 2/3 to the upper limit.

Apparently there's an increasing problem now with people even with new vehicles simply 'forgetting' that their engines need oil at all, running things until an oil pressure warning light fires. As a low oil pressure warning will by its nature alert you 'after the event' this is not kind to the engine in any way!

It's a relief the engine doesn't use much oil, as its need for synthetic oil means that as a consumable it's not cheap ...
