I have had a 03 C5 VTR estate for 12 months now (2ltr HDI –auto) Reading all the posts on the forum has been really useful. Can agree with a lot of the comments –like Auto gearbox is rubbish, fuel consumption poor, and the ballet dancer who designed the rear bakes needs shooting (well come on it could not have been an engineer- surely?) However – it is a big estate, good value, comfortable and looks ok. So overall I am pleased with it.

However I do have a slight problem. The washer kept blowing a fuse, intermittently. Eventually traced to a leaking pump filling the electrical connector socket on the pump. (Obviously designed by the same ballet dancer). Anyway changed the pump but it still does not work. Testing the supply to the pump- shows that there is a 12volt supply when the washer switch is activated, but it appears to be pulsing- like an ac voltage –rather than a DC. Is this something to do with the type of electrical system?

Am I missing something simple?
