chris107 Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Hi We have a 2003 2.0 HDI desire, we are currently thinking of using it for towing.I just wondered if anyone has any experience of towing with this vehicle? Regards Chris Quote
myke Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 I dont have any experiance of the 2L Hdi as I have an 04 1.9D. I tow my Skoda Estelle Trials car on an a frame and accept the fact that it will slow down up hills. Apart from that it is superb on the motorway and on any other roads performs equally well. In fact it gets better the more miles I do on a long journey. I put this down to my usual drives being in town and fairly short so it likes a bit of harder use to clean everything out. There is no problem with side winds or when passing lorries and I think the Berlingo actually got Tow Car of the Year at one time. Quote

Regards Chris Hi chris, i have a caravan which is 1100kg, and a 2002 HDi multispace forte, the way you work out the towing weight is as follows :-the kirb wieght of your viehical is 1311, divide this by 100 =13.11 x by 85 = 1114 so anything around 1000kg/1100 kg is fine, and the tow bar weight should not exceed 65 kg as the maximum is 70 this weight is best. Its a pure work horse and seams to run better towing after its been run about a bit. I also have a trailer which has had over a ton in it and never had a problem, just take things easy if its a caravan, check tyres/ brakes, take time slowing down and go light on the brakes and you should be fine. regards Quote
