Guest roy collingwood Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I have a c3 stop n startmy phone charger 'fell-apart' causing the metal parts to fall into the cigar lighter hole!spark, and the fuse in the end of the charger blew. my cigar lighter does now not work, I checked the fuse box in the glove box, there are only 2 fuses fitted, both are ok. the handbook lists all the fuses, the cigar lighter should share with digital clock, but this still works. any idea where there could be an other fuse? raveydavey Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 If the fuses are OK and everything else is still working, it could be the actual cigarette lighter that is broken. It's not unknown for them to "burn out" if subject to a heavy load so the spike when it went might have been enough. (A colleague of my dads once burnt out half a dozen lighter sockets by plugging in a travel kettle in his works vehicle, until the firm told him they wouldn't be paying for any more!) What year is your car? Mine is an '03 so has a cigarette lighter and a 12v socket, but I know later models only have the one. If it has two sockets, are they both not working? Quote

stimulator Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Why not get all the bits out of the lighter and go back to dealer and act stupid and see if it will be changed on the WARRANTY. Quote

I did, they replaced a fuse. there seems to be another fuse-box under the glove compartment.they showed me the blown fuse. i still cannot see the fusebox! i will look again later when the sun comes out. roy Quote
arrows Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Just found my 'other fuse box' under the glove box while trying to replace the fuse for my sun roof which failed to work for a couple of weeks then mysteriously started to work again. You can keep the glove box closed - get on your knees and look directly beneath where the fuses are in the glove box and you should see a black cover which you unclip to reveal a plethora of fuses.
