Malcolm Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 hello, I have a 2001 c5 lx my heater fan is only got 2 speeds flat out and the next one down, I am lead to beleive that this is cause by the other to resistors burning out in the speed control regulator box, the question is were is this box and how do I reconise the swine, I have air con and the basic heater control system, not the fancy one, I belive this box of doom is approx £15 fro the main stealersHi Jacko. This is quite an easy fix. As you say the resistor is only about £15 pounds. I replaced the one on my 2002 2.2 HDI which has the climate control and the unit was £ 50. The resistor pack on my car is located on the side of the heater itself down near the pedals just to the left of the steering column a couple of inches up from the floor. It's held in place by 2 screws and if I remember correctly 2 multi plugs. Obviously I can't be certain yours is in the same place but if you have any difficulties just follow the pair of thick red wires from the blower motor itself and you will find they go directly to this resistor. Apparently it's a common fault. Good luck. Malcolm. Quote
