Guest Yorkshire Xantia Owner Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 The heater/aircon blower on my 1999 Xantia Estate runs all the time the ignition is turned on. It runs at full speed regardless of whether the switch is set to off, auto, or any intermediate speed. The only way to turn it off is to pull the fuse out, but then I can't even defrost the windscreen. Possible related problems are that the heater fuse looks to have overheated (the plastic is distorted) although it hasn't blown. Is this because the fan runs continuously? Also, the engine tends to stall on idling a lot, but not all of the time - as if something (aircon, alternator?) is overloading the engine, but it idles fine if the fuse is pulled out. Any ideas? avatar12m Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 remove the passenger side panel underneath the glove box with a torx security screwdriver and drop the fan assembly out. Quote
Guest black-fingernail Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 This happened on my earlier model (`96) and the problem was a disconnected wire to the blower motor. The wiring may be different, but on mine is a single light wire from earth (black) to the smart bit under the dash. The climate control needs a feed from the motor for some reason, perhaps it measures rpm. Probably irrelevant, worth a look? Good luck! Quote
