lynneandcrow Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 I had my car in at Citroen Specialist that I am none to impresed with. As the front left was bobing up and down(its a 1997 2.0L Turbo Activa). I was told that maby I will need a new Hydrolic Pump possibly X2 new activa shock absorber'sand a LHM Filter all prety expensive stuff and was told "all the Spheres are fine" . Which I dont belive for a minuete as this sounds like the acuumulator sphere is on its last legs and I am going to replace it no matter what they say. So the mechanic tightened up all the conections in the Hydrolics and sent me on my way everything was great for 1/2 an hour. Then I heard a pop under breaking. I thought nothing of it at the time as the car was just out of the garrage. Then yesterday I noticed a green puddle under the car on closser inspection I found that the return pipe from the front pass side shocker has now "burst" and is leaking prety severly. Why did this happen and is there any way to fix it temperary as the garage in question cannot fit me in until Tuesday and I am running out of Lepricon juce rapidly. I have already toped up over 1/2 a bottle in to the LHM resivoir. Please any suggestions why this happend and a souloution please. Thanks Lynne EDITED!!!!\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/added 12:25 GMT Realy angry now! Just looked under the bonnet the Accumulator Sphere has fluid around it and is OBVIOUSLY leaking and has been for some time and this so called mechanic has failed to spot it. No wonder pipes are bursting after tightening them all up the presure has been to much. The pump has been trying to compensate for the loss in presure in the system and has blown a pipe. IDIOT heads are going to roll. Honestly some people, trying to charge me in exsess of 700 Pounds for new shockers and a new pump. Never trust anyone including a dealer. Please tell me if all this could be true I want some back up from other Citroen owners and people who have had experiance of this. Thanks Lynne here is a picture of the leak.http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g126/lynneandcrow/activaram1.jpg Quote

Guest black-fingernail Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 After all the hysteria has died down... there is a useful rule of thumb for hydraulic faults. If it`s a rubber pipe it`s a low pressure return to the reservoir, if it`s metal it can be high or low. I had the same experience with a BX suspension strut, part cost under £5, job took me an hour. Must agree with you about the specialists though, I was busy one week and when a friend said "Can you get the back of my Xantia to lift up?" I said sorry, try the other guy (dealer) and was seriously gobsmacked to find he had been charged over £1300 for what might have been a simple broken link, a £10 job in my book! Unfortunately I never found out exactly what it was because he sold the car in disgust. Quote
