butane11 Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Hi All,i recently tried to replace the rear brake pads on my c4 1.6hdi 5 door, when i remove the rear brake caliber i am not able to push back in the brake piston, how do i do this can anyone help, i did it on the front many times on many cars but just not able to on this bloody c4!!!! HHHEEEELLLLLPPPPPP Quote
myglaren Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Perhaps they need to be screwed back into place. Never seen it on rear calipers but then again I haven't had a C4 either. If they are castellated pistons, use a giant screwdriver or similar to rotate them back into their bores. IIRC one will be a right hand and the other a left hand thread. Quote
iannez Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 they do need winding back but both turn the same way, clockwise. there quite tight and the threads are to course for a standard wind back tool and they just jam up. pneumatic wind back tools work a treat tho. Quote
