Guest Very angry at Yeomans Citr Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Hi all, and thanks for making me welcome to the Citroen Owners Club. However, I do really need your help. I am a driving instructor by trade, and on the 6th September 2007, I ordered a new Citroen C1 Vibe from Yeomans Citroen of Plymouth, complete with dual controls supplied and fitted by Yeomans. This car, which I WAS really pleased with, I stress the WAS, was delivered to me on the 19th September 2007. So, there I am, out giving lessons in this shiney new Citroen C1 in the Devon area until today. I was teaching at the Westpoint driving centre in Exeter with a new student, who did not quite master steering, and making a right turn, he did not turn the wheel enough, so went to do what I always did in that situation, go for the dual brake control. No sooner did I do that, the dual brake pedal collapsed to the floor of the car, resulting in complete brake failure, and before I knew what was going on, BANG, CRASH, WALLOP! The car ended up impailed on a one foot high metal post, which damaged the sump, wishbones, front bumper, oil pump and filter, radiator, driver's side wheel and tyre, the list goes on. All this due to failure of a critical componant on the car, namely the instructor's dual controls. My question is, what do I do now, are Yeomans at fault for incorrect fitting of the dual controls in the first place? Many thanks for your help in advance. Quote
iannez Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 you will need to look into it but dealers usually contract this type of thing out but if they had the controls fitted by a sub contractor they should still be the ones who sort it for you. you should have had the car recovered to the dealers where it was bought from and demanded a hire car with dual controls and that your car be replaced or repaired foc. this is why companies pay liability insurance. ColinC1 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 This sounds as if there has been falure of the metal linkage between the pedal on the passenger side to the drivers pedal, so the fault lies with the installer. As stated above this is an insurance job, and if the car is new, then i would ask for a new car, and i would even consider saying that their may be a case for suing someone here, for gross negligence, due to such an important loss of function such as braking. Guest Very angry at Yeomans Citr Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Thanks for that Colin, but read on --- RESULT!!!! Yeomans' technicians had worked through the night reconstructing the front end of my C1, with new front subframe and suspension, new front bumper and front supporting beam, new front wheels and tyres, new oil filter, oil pmp and new sump. All this did not cost me a penny, as the garage has admitted liability. They have paid by loss of income, and loss of use totalling £350 on top. Off the road for a total of only 16 hours! SO, WHAT A RESULT!!!!!! Quote
ColinC1 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Well done, but once its rebuilt to your satisfaction, I would take the car with a friend, onto a big open bit of tarmac, and double check the foot controls, so that you feel safe with them  Quote
Guest Very angry at Yeomans Citr Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 All is OK with the controls now, the garage had a He-Man technician from Southampton come down and fit a new set. Quote
citroeneddie Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Well done on a good result. Not all Citroen dealers are crooks you know! My daughters C1 is fantastic. Let us know how you get on. Quote

Guest Very angry at Yeomans Citr Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 All is OK with the C1 now, new controls work fine. Still waiting for the cheque from them, and I have told them they have seven days to pay, or I will issue a Stat demand for this. Quote

Hope you got a good grade. The duals were fitted by Yeomans themselves, even after they claimed someone else did them. They have basically lied to me. The car was repaired within 24 hours by them though, but the fact remains they lied. For that, I am taking action against them. Quote
