Guest black-fingernail Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 This is not for the beginner! Very persuasive methods are needed to get these rack and pinion steering assemblies in good condition, and they are best done on the bench in clean conditions. Find a good one at the local breaker and a fit mate to help swap racks, then play with the old one at your leisure - you will find how difficult they are.... Avoiding damage to the internals while gettting things shifted or tightened sufficiently takes some special tools and lots of muscle. Essential tools for rack swaps are a good balljoint taper puller, and plastic plugs and caps for all the pipe fittings. Don`t forget to depressurise... Good luck. Quote
