podpeeze Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Hi all, my OEM cd player behaves for about 10 minutes then will pause the track for a couple of seconds before restarting. After a further 10 mins its doing it every 30 seconds or so. :( So I'm going to replace the head unit with another brand. One with a usb port in the front.I've bought the facia adapter already (£4.99 on ebay :P ) and went into Halfords to choose a replacement. After much lip sucking on the part of the salesman he said I would need conversion cables from Citroen because if I don't my headlights will not work. Really????? Can anyone advise if this is the case? I know it would affect the steering control and the multi-function screen but if its going to make the whole car unsafe then I'll buy a walkman!! Many thanksJon Quote
old'uns Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 shows what halfruds know!changed mine no problem, didn't bother with leads for controls.search t'internet for units, way cheaper! Quote
podpeeze Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 Thanks for that, I was wondering. :P Jon Quote
Guest sirdrinksalot Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Id guess that the muppet meant that the display on the dash would not work with an aftermarket stereo. Quote
podpeeze Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Well I've done more digging and 90% of reponces from people in the trade say don't do it.Which is a bugger because I just bought nice new stereo for it! I'm going to try it anyway - so I'll post results when its done. Jon Quote
daffy4895 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 maybe a little late but i replaced my headunit the same day i got my C5 and it has caused no issues. other than i can't use steering controls as i didn't get an adaptor cable and display on dash no longer shows radio stations and the such Quote
podpeeze Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Well I managed to find a audio specialist that was willing to take the plunge and they fitted the stereo today. So far so good - I supplied the Citroen interface lead but as it turned out they tried it with the lead in and with it out and it didn't make any difference. They've left the lead in situ just in case. The only thing they cannot work out is that it is not possible to turn off the stereo with the ignition. Everything else (central locking, lights, air-con etc. that I'd been warned about is working fine.I've got a nice usb port in the glove compartment now so I can plug my memory stick in and keep my entire cd collection with me in the car. Well pleased!Jon  Quote
