fishears Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 HelloCan someone please explain to me how to operate the child locks from the door itself rather than the dashboard? Some time ago my nearside door stopped operating when the dash button was pressed - problem is that its stuck LOCKED. According to the handbook I should "Action the lever" but the picture of the lever doesn't look like what I have on my car. The book shows a little black pin below the lock but I have a sort of black plastic coated oval/ rounded rectangle and it won't move in any direction with any force at my disposal.Thank you Quote
iannez Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 theres a round black sticker near the door latch. remove the sticker and you will see a slot behind it. use the end of your key blade to operate it. Quote
fishears Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 theres a round black sticker near the door latch. remove the sticker and you will see a slot behind it. use the end of your key blade to operate it. isn't that the manual EXTERNAL door locking mechanism referred to in the handbook for locking the car when the central locking fails? When I operate that I can still open doors from inside.... Quote
fishears Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 Just got back from my dealers. It took two technicians to eventually tell me that they don't believe the C3 has a manual option for child locks - despite the handbook saying it does.Honestly, every time I have asked the dealers a question it's like I just showed them a car they have never ever seen before. Is it just me?!They went on to quote me £150 for fitting a replacement lock. I politely declined. Quote
iannez Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 your right fishears. got my wires crossed. sorry about that. Quote
raveydavey Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 A cheaper option would be to wind the window down, reach out and open the door with the external handle and then wind the window back up. I had a similar problem with the child lock on mine (OSR door) and the dealer replaced the external door handle* under warranty. * - Yes, I know, but that is what they insisted they'd done. Quote
