Martin Beevers Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Hi all,I know this must be an old thread by now, so firstly I'll start with an apology for boring some of you.I own a 95 TD and am thinking of adding vegetable oil as an additive, if you know what I mean...How much should I add? What should I expect, I.E. Performance? Smoke? Smell?I realize this may be tax evasion, so what to expect if I get tugged? If they crush my car I could cope with that, but will there be a hefty fine involved? Thanks Martin  Quote

Thanks Martin :unsure:hi martin, not sure if these cars run ok on veg but with regards to using veg oil as a fuel you are now allowed to use 2500 litres per annum without having to pay tax on it but you must keep receipts in case you get pulled.hth forgot to add at this time of year try a mix of about 30% and in summer about 50%. From experience on other cars you will need to change fuel filter after your first coupla tanks as it cleans all the crap out the tank and fuel lines. Quote
veggysmuggler Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 these cars run perfectly fine on veggy oil, have ran mine on it for over a year now with no problems.......and pure veggy oil at that :D Quote

Was going to wait for summer to go for the 50/50 mix. Don't you get any cold start problems on neat veg? Quote

One very important point missed so far... only change to veg if you have a Bosch pump.. you will wreck a Lucas pump.My 1999 1.9td runs sweet on near 100% veg (the cheapest i can find) I find that 2 cycles of the pre-heaters is required if the temp is around 0 deg.
