organist Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 Please be advised that there is a modification to the software for 52/03/53 registration C3's. This enables the child locking system to actually remember that they are set. Previously, after locking the car and returning to it, the child locks had to be set 'on' every time. I forgot once and nearly lost my 4 year-old onto the M3 near Southampton!! The new software package also enables the 'auto locking' function, so that the vehicle will (if you desire) automatically lock the doors as soon as the roadspeed increases to over 6mph. This feature can be disabled with the ordinary dashboard locking button. The software fix is 41.0. After a month since this 'mod' hs been carried out, I can report that this has finally sorted this out and everything seems to work as it should. Quote
hertsnminds Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 What would be really useful is a list of all of the software modules a C3 uses, a way to find out which ones your particular vehicle has installed and what the latest revisions for each module are. Just have to brush up on my MS DOS commands I suppose....DIR/P Ian Orange Senso 03 Quote
JonC3 Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Strange, my 53 HDI exc has the auto door lock, but also has the forgetful child locks. Quote
Igloo_Vindaloo Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Good to know - and I thought it was just me being forgetful! Tim Quote
Timmz Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Hi, Anyone knows how to activate and program the "auto lock" function Do advise. thanks! Timmz Quote
organist Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 You need to hold the dashboard locking (NOT the Child lock, the big round one) button down until you get a confirmation 'bong'. This will switch the auto lock on and doing it again will switch it off. Quote

I just spoke to my local dealer (Bristol Street,Nottingham) and they said they had never heard of or been asked to do this before. They called another branch (Leicester) and they told them the same thing "What are you talking about?". Is this an education problem with Midlands dealerships or is there some secret way to ask that will get the right answer? Can someone who has successfully had there C3 updated please tell me where they had it done and what they asked for to make the dealer understand them? Many thanks... Quote
