Hi I had a look and I think you should check the anti sink sphere and anti sink valve at the rear, they wee fitted after 1994 ish. A really good independant specialst is Pleiades 01487 831239 they specialse in the Xantia and will send you spheres at around £20 rather than the £75 plus vat from good old dealer. They are in Sawtry Cambs just off the A1. Carful when you get underneath, Xantia have killed a couple of people when they accidently moved the hiegt adjuster when working on it from underneath. Its also worth excersiseing the ride adjuster once a week by taking it throght all hieghts, it stops a saging rear end

The rear suspension height is controlled by a small plastic link between the anti-roll bar and the height corrector. The same symptoms were displayed by my '98 HDi when the link fell off. A new one is only pennies from a dealer. However, the balls that it clips onto become worn and unable to retain the link, mostly at the corrector end as there is no retaining clip at that end. The cure is to purchase a new link, and after it is fitted, make an "L" shaped piece of steel just big enough to support the bottom of the link under the corrector arm and, with everything in place, tack weld the "L" shaped support to the corrector arm. I tried to keep the link in place with cable ties but this was un-successful as the corrector then refused to work. This "Fix" has been in place on my car for a couple of years now with no recurrence of the problem. Care must be taken not to allow too much heat build-up when the weld is made, otherwise the corrector could be damaged. A couple of small tacks are enough. Cheers hope this helps.
