Guest Colin Hunter Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 With the current trend towards international (Read 3rd world!) call centres, the operatives of which seem to do little other than read from a prepared "Crib sheet" It is indeed refreshing to find a REAL bargain. I have 2 cars.A 1998 2.0 HDi LX 110 Xantia (Group 13 God knows why!)A 1996 1.4i Elation ZX (Lads car group 6 Again God knows why!)I had the Xantia ensured through Esure and when it came time to teach my son to drive I asked if he could be put on the policy. To include the answer would not add constructively to this post! I therefore bought the old ZX and insured it through NFU who, at £695 On a new policy with laddo as named driver gave the best deal. When he passed his test I asked Esure again about including him. Still no way. I approached NFU and was told that I could put both cars on the same policy. They would earn "No claims" independantly. Since the lad was off to Uni (Didn't need his car) I went ahead with the changeover. I had been paying Esure about £250 per annum (I'm over 50 and haven't had a claim since 1980!) Fully comp for the Xantia, and NFU £39 per month for the ZX with my son as named driver. (a bit of no claims had kicked in by now) I was advised that I would be better off taking him off the policy as named driver and putting him on temporarily as was needed. For short term inclusions it was £1 per day. The best bit was that Esure refunded me Pro-rata as they could not supply what I required, and my premium to NFU REDUCED to £34 per month for BOTH Cars! (Xanti Fully Comp Protected NCB, ZX TPFT) I can include my son on the ZX for about £13 per month when He's home and £28 per month for the Xantia. Truly a flexible sollution and better still, they have local offices so you can talk face to face with a human being and tell them exactly what you need! Give them a call. Saved my Brother in law £15 per month on his 2.5 V6 Ghia X Mondeo! I should add that I considered getting him his own policy. I tried a website which claimed to specialise in younger drivers. The cheapest quote was £1350 (Zenith) and the dearest £3500 (Zurich) and that for TPFT on a ZX worth a lucky £400! Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Just a little bit of info for any young drivers out there looking for their own policy. NFU have an offer on just now where they give you a 30% intruductory bonus if you're 20 and have a full license or if you're under 20 and have a pass plus. Cheers! Happy motoring  Quote
