Guest Kane Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Hi, fronts are pretty straight forward to do. 1. Drop the suspension on it's lowest setting and wait for 5 minutes. 2. Open the bonnet and look directly down behind the radiator, you should see another green sphere (accumulator sphere), just to the right of the sphere where it connects to it's mount there is a smallish bolt slightly sticking out (it's the only one there). Turn the bolt about a HALF TURN to release the pressure and leave it as is. 3. Again wait about 5 minutes for all the pressure to release. (good time to have a cuppa!) 4. Get hold of an oil filter strap wrench or similar (ideal tool on e-bay for about £15, just type in sphere removal, so much easier with one of these.) 5. Place the tool around the sphere and undo, put a bit of old rag under the sphere to catch any spillage, remove the sphere and also look for the black washer type sealing ring which will either come off with the sphere or will be on the thread, make sure you discard it! 6. Get the new seal ring and put a bit of the fluid from the sphere mount on it and place it directly into the MOUNT and not on the end of the new sphere, screw new sphere on hand tight only, Repeat for other side. 7. Once both sides are completed tighten up the screw on the front of the mount near the radiator (step 2). 8. Start engine and fully raise the supension and lower, repeat this process about 3-5 times. Job done! Hope this helps. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Unless the rears have been changed recently (making the front seem extra bouncy), you'll probably notice the rears are shot as well first time you go for a drive. Changing one end without doing the other just seems to accentuate a fault which you didn't notice cos you thought it was fine compared with the other end! (Hope you can follow that!) That's what happened when I changed my rears. Noticed right away that the fronts needed doing as well! See my reply to Willie at http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=4507 about doing the rear ones if you need to. Quote
