CE08LDB Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 Just got off the phone to the dealer I had to phone again mind. But there is a back log on the car. Citroen are way behind on their orders. But the sales person will get in touch with them after easter and get them to get a move on, I am happy now I know the score Quote
jazzster Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 At last got car free mats cheap ones not Citroen and tank filled with petrol but paid for £20 worth anyway. Salesman said sorry about delay etc. May not have service done there anyway. Now the C3 well No electric folding mirrors. :o Delay on electric windows works with ignition switched off. :D Draw under stereo not there. Seems to have lost a few items on the exclusive. Sensodrive is O.K. not made my mind up yet, jerked a few times, could be me not used to it yet. Not tried manual yet only been work and back. Love the new darker interior colour. Rained on car already :P Quote
jazzster Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Done about 200 miles now. Sensodrive seems to work alright most of the time, only problems are slowing down at give way signs stays in second and if you put your foot down a little to pull out of the junction it seems to slip the clutch and bang in gear sometimes. (found out knocking it in first when slow seem to work a lot better) Few times it has not pulled away as quick as I thought, could be my driveing style try to keep revs low for running in period. Did overtake one vehicle and it seemed to preform well even thought did get a little over 4000 revs, by the way the car I passed was a 52 plate C3 going rather slow. Speed warning buzzer is no good way to quiet. Auto lights come on in garage. Wiper not worked in rain yet but washed screen and they miss 2 inches by the drivers A pillar, surprised they have not improved this they were like that on my 52 plate. Altered the arms a couple of notches did this on old C3 too. Average MPG 47.1 but the computer is most likely wrong. Quote
CE08LDB Posted March 26, 2005 Author Posted March 26, 2005 When I drove my brothers C3 1.4i SX Auto a 52 reg a few weeks ago I took over a C3 Exclusive which was going pritty fast but I did cheat a bit I used sport mode  If mine don't have a draw im going to ask why because the exclusive should have a more than the SX. Because what you said the only extras the Exclusive have over SX is the Tables on rear seats Alloys Silver Door Handels and rear number plate moulding Cruise Control Moduboard Alarm To me this is what I think the Exclusive should have. Folding mirrors 5 CD Changer where the space is in the front Rear Electric Windows And put the cream leather back on the steering wheel like the Exclusives had when the C3 first came out. Reverse Parking Sensors Because the C5 Exclusive have very all of this plus more equipment Do you all agree with me The mats my dealer do give are ones with their name on and the Citroen logo. Quote
jazzster Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 To be honest I think the things the exclusive has over the SX is a rip off. The draw was not on last C3 I because I had the in dash 5 CD changer, i`m not bothered about it this time because I have a double din DVD player to fit in after 1st service. It comes with dark grey leather steering wheel which I like. It should have the electric folding mirrors and reversing sensors fitted and was dissapointed about the mirrors but they were no listed on the website. My old Exclusive did not have auto electric lights, MPG computer and dark interior. Had rear electric windows in Honda Jazz hardly ever use them The MPG computer does not seem very acurate been out to day it dropped from 47.1 to 46.3 when I first started off and has not altered in the 60 or so miles I have driven. The Honda Jazz would alter small amounts if driveing in traffic and open road being an average MPG it should creep up or down a little. Filled car with petrol 270 miles 7.19 gallons computer said 46.3. MPG I work it out as 37.5 this works out as about 1.4 gallons out could be that the garage never filled it as much as me. Honda was always about 2 MPG more that my calculations. Just looked at MPG for my old C3 Exc. Manual over 4000 miles the average was 36.8 MPG which was over winter and mostly short journeys to work. Highest was 46 first tank full probably went a long run lowest was 31.5 MPG middle of winter. Shall see how it does over next few weeks. Quote
CE08LDB Posted March 26, 2005 Author Posted March 26, 2005 Well my brothers 52 2003 Reg C3 SX Auto has Auto lights but I deactivated them because he said they were coming on in the day all the time and it wasen't dark days they were sunny days aswell. Citroen seems to be upgrading their lower C3 models and taken the good stuff from Exclusive. What made you change your old C3 Exclusive? To be honest I would like to know why Citroen have taken the folding mirrors off the Exclusive models. Wonder do Peugeot keep changing the spec on their models Quote
jazzster Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 Think I agree about the lights seem to come on a lot just slight amount of rain and they come on. My old C3 was manual and I was having problems with the clutch, me not the car, I couldn`t get a test drive in Sensodrive other than on a car park on gravel. So went for the Jazz smooth gearbox (CVT) lacks electrical equipment and hard suspension but was very reliable 22 months. First auto was a BX 1.6 TRS really nice car other than problems with petrol evaperation in hot weather, was tempted to buy a BX 1.9 gti on Ebay few months ago but could not justify 2 cars it looked in good condition. Was thinking about the C2 VTR when I bought this C3 but it spec was not very good air con was extra and not climate control. They stopped doing the manual Exclusive its a VTR now with less spec and more sport styleing. Quote
CE08LDB Posted March 27, 2005 Author Posted March 27, 2005 Well because I have a motability car which this will be my first I picked a choice of 3 cars because they were nil deposit and I can only drive Auto. C2 1.4i Furio Sensodrive C3 1.4i SX Auto C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive Sensodrive So I picked the C3 Exclusive because it was the top model in the C3 range and the C2 was too small really and like you said Air Con is extra on C2 VTR so the same would apply to Furio and the troubles my brother have had with his C3 1.4i SX Auto it put me off a bit. CE08LDB Posted April 1, 2005 Author Posted April 1, 2005 Been to my dealer today about my car it is still in Calais, France. They said if I wanted a car ASAP I could have had a C3 1.4i 16v SX Sensodrive Silver on Monday or wait 2 weeks for my C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive Sensodrive green so I decided to wait 2 weeks Quote
jazzster Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 My car was made on the 3rd march 2005 according to the ORA RP number. So 3 weeks old when I had it, takes a while for delivery. Car still running O.K. done about 500 miles now. Got used to the Sensodrive on the open road changeing gear by paddles and auto both fine. Still don`t like it at junctions where you come to junction few mph and then want a quick get away, (roundabouts for example) , its normally still in 2nd and lefts the clutch out with a jerk or slips it alot than jerks it out, does not seem to pull of vey quick and creeps out of the junction once it gets going its fine. Tried chaging to 1st manual an just seems to get confused and slips the clutch a lot without much movement. Had the jerking clutch at a junction when moveing off slow as well seems to need the change down sooner. It makes me think of someone going too slow in 2nd so slipping the clutch and try to pull off again in second rather that dropping to first. The turning circle is very poor towards the Jazz takeing some getting used to parking in car park spaces. Overall quiet pleased with the car just washed it this morning again Quote
This just means you have to read the road and anticipate things more. As the car I had before this one was a left hand drive I was already doing this to some extent because my view at junctions was not as clear as it would have been in a right hand drive. Just one of the new driving techniques you have to learn with SensoDrive. If your revs drop to below 2,000 in 2nd as you approach a junction probably best to select 1st with the paddles, the sensodrive will not auto change down until you drop below about 1,000 revs unless you are braking hard (and even then it leaves a change to 1st until you are slower than 7mph). The system is also supposed to learn your driving style so it should adapt (not much in my experience) to how you drive. I think I found it was me adapting to it more than it adapting to me. :( Ian Orange 03 Senso Quote
CE08LDB Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 Im glad your car is ok jazzster. I was thinking about my car today. That silver 1.4i 16v SX Sensodrive the dealer offered me was the one I sat in a few weeks ago in the showroom. It has been in the showroom since Novemberand was still in there on Friday. Im glad now really I turned it down. I don't really want a car where every one has been in it. I am still not happy because when I ordered the Exclusive Sensodrive on 16/2/05 they said it would be there in 4 weeks well it should be here in 2 weeks with a bit of luck. Quote
jazzster Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Done 880 miles now car running O.K. Still don`t like junctions, couple of time car seems to not know what gear it in and revs a I try to pull away but hardly moves, get a judder on the clutch then its goes. Average MPG reading has been about 3 mpg higher on car that actual MPG . car 42.2 actual 39.0 overall average for 840 miles 37.5MPG. Still like car just be glad when i`ve got the hang of the gearbox. I have been driveing more in manual last few days its is a little better if you remember to change to 1st before you get to the junction. Wipers work loads better on this one that my 52 plate, they had a mind of their own and would go very fast in light drizzle. Like to climate control, set and forget. A lot less room in the back but not really a problem like the moduboard. May book it in for first service soon.then I can get my DVD player in, also have a reversing camera I may fit, but this depends on how well it works and if I can fit it without to many problems. Seem to have side airbags as standard on mine, used to be option. Quote
pork_pie Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Good luck with fitting a reversing camera if a third party is going to do it as 1) Citroen may kick up a fuss about warranty. Correction - it "will". Also I think there is a switch behind the dashboard that permits the use of aftermarket in-car entertainment such as your DVD player othersise the digital dashboars display will get into a frenzy. Ensure the switch is flicked. 2) The multiplex wiring is VERY suceptible to electrical glitcheswith its existing hardware and not very upgradable for additonal equipment (I was unable to fit electric rear windows/cruisecontrol as a result). Average MPH will fall until it reads something like 5MPH :(. I tend to reset all the trip functions each time I fill up with petrol. Ian Orange 03 Senso Quote

Make sure orginal stereo is turned off with ignition on then turn ignition off and fit new stereo connecting the ignition live wire from stereo to cigarette lighter. Lots of information about it on C2sportclub forum The problem I may have Is the handbrake switch must be connected to stop DVD working when driving. Reverse camera just needs live feed from reverse lights not decided if it will be worth it yet. shall try it wireing up to power pack first see how it works. Quote

hertsnminds Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Fuel gauge tends to err on the safe side as well. I know I have driven 10 - 20 miles after it claims no miles left and can still only get about 42 litres into what is supposed to be a 47 litre tank. You can also confuse things by parking on a hill (sideways, passenger side lower than drivers) this can make the fuel reading go UP the levels will get back to normal but this can take another 100 - 200 miles. All part of the fun of learning a new operating system, DOS, Windows 3.x, XP, etc etc etc. I wonder if all those fly by wire airplanes have similar quirks :( Ian Orange 03 Senso Quote
CE08LDB Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 Hopefully my C3 will be at the Dealers this week. I drove my brothers C3 1.4i SX Auto the other day and found Sport mode don't work so good as it did before it needed a new gear box. It has done 3,000 miles since the new gear box was fitted. When I first used sport mode it was 6 days after it had a new gear box fitted and my brother had only done about 70 miles so thought maybe it needs to go through the running in period again as it is like having a new car again but still don't give a good performance. It was good for over taking. You could feel the power as soon as you put it on. But my brother won't bother to have it looked at now as long the car lasts out to Feb 2006 he will be happy. Is the 1.6i 16v Sensodrive good for over taking? Quote
jazzster Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005
Is the 1.6i 16v Sensodrive good for over taking?
Yes loads better than the Jazz which was only 1.4 and CVT gearbox. As long as you remember you have not got a kickdown like on Automatic gearbox. You can change down with the paddles in auto mode it stays in that gear for a short time approx 12 secs depending on how are you accellerate or put in manual and you have more control over when it changes up. Quote
hertsnminds Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005
As long as you remember you have not got a kickdown like on Automatic gearbox.
If you are in AUTO mode with the SensoDrive you DO have a kickdown feature. It is slow to take effect but it does work. If you want any sense of oomph from the engine you have to make sure you have more than about 3,500 revs even changing down to 3rd on the motorway for overtaking. The SensoDrive system will not let you over rev the car so it will either not change down if you are going too fast or it will auto change up when the revs reach the limit. Ian Orange 03 Senso Quote

jazzster Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 Car booked in for 1st service Monday, lets see how good the dealers is. Also got the code card today it was missing in the pack when picked up. Quote
