wozza Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Well Wozza you will have some cash to spend then lucky you Yep it got its first present today £330 down after fitting and buying the cables suitable for it etc. Im glad i didnt choose to fit it they had to make a cable specifically for the C4. Ah well looks and sounds a lot better than the stock system. Got myself an Alpine 9855R headunit. Now all thats left to do is new components and an amp and a nice subwoofer and amp. Quote
wozza Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Thought id post pic up of the dash / new headunit just for the sake of it. http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/dash.JPG http://mybigspoon.com/wozza/headunit.JPG I think the display on the unit just adds to the car. buttons are all slightly better colour coded now. after i worked out how to get them all done. According to my mate though witht he 5 screens in the car it looks liek something out of startrek lol. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 That looks brilliant made. Well better than the Standard one. I bet it looks cool in the dark Quote
wozza Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Sounds loads better as well plus with it being MP3 130 or so songs on 1 cd always a good things. Does look nice in the dark though when you can see all the other buttons lit up properly in those pictures some of the buttons are white there all now coloured red and the amber matches better. The screen is lovely though really easy to see and read and not too flash. Just loving how much better it sounds though. Although i cant get it any higher than about 16 before it starts to distorb its fairly loud at that volume but the thing goes up to 35! Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Thats good then. I just been for a ride in my C3. I had half a tank of petrol so I topped it up with £18 wouldn't hold anymore I reset the MPG etc and then I drove about 65 miles over took 4 cars and I got home and its still on a full tank and showing 435 miles to refill and 47mpg. She was brilliant when over taking it didn't fail me once Quote
wozza Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 The only time i ever see more than 35mpg is when im on the motorway. Think my right foot is made of lead lol. Typically though round town im getting 26 - 29mpg but thats stuck in stop start traffic can be sat in 1st gear sometimes doing 5-6mph for ages. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 well thats the furthest I have been in a while. I am doing alot of driving around for my brother intill he gets a new car which is alot of town driving so mine is doing the same mpg as you then. The ride was very good today though I gave it a blast when over taking it needed it as its only been driven around town alot. The Fog was bad around Brecon Beacons and there was snow. I over took a C4 SX. Your MPG should get better after a few thousand miles mine did. It just turned on 7,000 miles today Quote
wozza Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Mines just coming up for 2300ish now i think although have to go back to scotland this week again i think. Although not sure which car will be taking. But my mpg is bloody awful at the moment. Although i have managed to get it to rear 705mpg lol. putting foot on clutch at 80 doing down hill lol. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I bet you always reving it lol. Well when I mentioned the mpg to my dealer when I booked the delivery inspection in June he said that you get better mpg after 3,000 miles. I don't use air Con as it drinks the petrol up. My brother does mind which windes me up as its my fuel he's using. But there you are. What car does work give you if you need to go to Scotland? Quote
wozza Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I dont work so i may take my car or my mums car depends which is easier to take up with me at the time. I have the A/C on quite often to be honest and yes i do have a bit of a heavy right foot but the cars meant to be driven. Plus with it being new its better once the car is warm to give it some stick actually helps break the engine in better than breaking it in slowly. helps ensure the pistons get a better seal. Why Race engines are always broken in on a dyno as well. Results in them getting more power. but yeah to put it into perspective i had the cruise control on today on the motorway set at 70mph and the mpg was goign between 21 and 42. Not exactly great. Quote
hertsnminds Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I was sitting in traffic yesterday and turned off the climate control and set the fan speed to off, idling revs dropped from 1,000 to 800 (down by at least 2 segments on the display). That was in the C4. The MPG in the Pluriel got better after it had clocked up 10,000 miles. Pre 10k was around 35mpg, post 10k was 40mpg and above. I would take the C4 to Scotland it just soaks up the motorways. I have done over 2,000 miles in the first month of ownership and am getting about the same MPG as the Pluriel was giving when I got rid of it about 100 miles for every 10 litres of fuel. jazzster Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Had recall done today only took an hour, clutch judder had dissappeared before it was taken in so no point in test drive, don't know what it cured but reset my fuel computer :o . My MPG has averaged 36 mpg since having it 6500 miles, it has not done very well lately mainly because of bad weather and the fact I sometimes run the engine at work to keep warm at breaks, the worst it has done is 30mpg or indicated by the car 32.8MPG, best has been 42.6mpg and car said 46 I have check MPG since buying the car and it is always about 2-3 mpg less than cars says.I still like the car but wish the gearbox worked better at junctions :D , I aways leave the climate control on it worth the few MPG differnce in my opinion plus it needs to be used regularly to keep it in good condition, dont use auto lights as they annoy me going under bridges etc., auto wiper work ok most of the time althought they do got to full speed when a lot of dirt on windscreen and not much rain.Has for changing my car have not decided what to do yet I will see how it goes from now until march and if it annoys me too much it will be goodbye Citroen, unless anyone has an BX GTi Auto in very good condition, I was tempted a while ago with one on ebay but was a goodboy :P . Quote
hertsnminds Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 BX GTi AutoI used to own a BX GTi (the 8v manual). The electrics were not the best in the world, bulbs on the dash kept blowing and I had a complete failure of the ABS system (valve block and ABS computer) expensive to fix and required to pass the MOT. Apart from that it was a great car felt the same no matter how full it was and that trick suspension is good fun too (even if it could be confused by quick changes in direction). Guest CE05LDB Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I might take my car to the dealer soon. Some of my drivers seat is going flat and it very uncomfotable after long trips and my car seems to be pulling to the left some times. I always use the Auto lights makes my life easier. The C4 headlamps are nice colour in them when they are lit arn't they. Seen some when I was going through fog and snow on Brecon Beacons yesterday. The Petrol guadge has just dropped by 1 bar but have done alot of driving this morning. My brother is lending the car later so it will go down quick as he uses the Air Con and lets the gears change automaticaly where I over ride them and change like you would do in a manual car. I remember you saying a few months ago Ian you said it took your Pluriel 10,000 miles intill you started getting better mpg. I give the car a good drive yesterday hits some high speeds but won't say what though. Quote
wozza Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Well dropped my car off today to go into the dealers for warranty work bee given a C3 1.1 desire. My view of the C3 1.1 desire is...crap. I know its a 1.1 but its sooo underpowered it was strugglign to get to 70 going up hill. The interior feels really realy cheap in comparison to the C4. The handling is awful compared to the C4 and the seats must be the most unsuportive things ever i went round a corner and started sliding off them. Was interesting. Steering is unbelivably light and offers zero feedback. And and i have to turn the wheel round so much to get it to go round a corner. Suffice to say my view on the C3 isnt up to much now. The C4 is so much further ahead in general feel. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 jazzster had a letter from my Citroen Dealer today it came recorded delivery. Its needs a software upgrade for the interface so its booked for 27/2/06 as that was the nearest date I could get. I am also having the lower half of the drivers seat replaced as it has gone all flat on the one side. I said about my breaks feel likes they are rubbing so they said give it to 12,000 miles and they will replace them then. I went to them in person as I had to go there anyway about my brothers new car and the was non stop there regarding this recall. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 My mates 54 2005 reg C3 Desire has been called for the same recall aswell but can't get it booked in intill March Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 My Digital Air Con Screen wouldn't go off it was still when the engine was not running and when the car was locked. It was like if it was just froze. Quote
wozza Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Thats an odd one you got there mate. Did the economy mode shut it down? Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 I thinks its to do with the software upgrade it needs. It was like it was on engine off you could upper the temp and lower it but nothing running at all I even took thr keys out. It did go off when I arrived at the Citroen Dealer to arrange for my brother to take delivery of his C3 on Monday. Quote
wozza Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 typical really you get a problem as soon as you get to the dealer it goes away. Next time i have a problem im just gonna threaten my car with a trip to the dealer see if it fixes it lol. Bet your brother is glad to have his own car again. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Yeah he is and I am as I am fed up doing all the driving around. Well the screen has been ok today aswell. I bought Citroen cleaning gear off an ebay seller who sells for a Citroen dealer. Take a look at his items OLDS GROUP CITROEN DEALER EBAY SELLER Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Well my brother picked up his New C3 Exclusive Sensodrive on Monday. 4 days of ownership problems have arrived already Well my brother came in my house today and said the car en't starting. I said whats the problem. He said these last two mornings I have been puting the key in have the sensodrive gear stick in Neutral and press the break pedal like you should. Nothing not even the noise of it trying to start. It took him 5 minutes this morning to get it started. So I took it down the town this morning. Went into a shop came out got in. Surprise surprise it wouldn't start. I tried again nothing. So after a couple of minutes I tried again nothing so I took it out of Neutral and put it back in Neutral it started. I came back from my sisters around 7pm in my car. I had a phone call from my brother. Asking could I bring the spare key down (I keep the spare key and the documents) as the car wouldn't start again and while trying to start it the key fell apart in ingnition. Its one of these flip ones same as C4 Key. So he's not happy at all. Im phoning the Citroen Dealer in the morning Quote
wozza Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 ouch those flip keys are not cheap to replace £130 a piece they are. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Well Citroen will be replacing it as its their fault. Im going to ask if they can give the key like mine they use on the old style C3 as these flip keys are cheaply put together and with my key there is a screw holding it together which Citroen should have used the heads and used a screw on these flip keys. It is coming to something where I had to take my brother to the shop earlier bet in case the car wouldn't start when he come out of the shop. My car never had any faults with starting. Quote
