richxantiaman Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 HI Mate, mine is an hdi engined manual gearbox, it has an electronic speedo. Having recently changed clutch I can tell you first hand mine is electric gizmo driven by a gear that bolts to diff housing. Hope this helps, Rich Quote
shropshireman Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 hi rich, does this mean its a gearbox casing removal to fix this problem, also wondering if its gear driven ? why its an intermittant problem Quote
daffy4895 Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 I've come across this in a few other vehicles, and its usually a fault with the electrics behind the dials. Although it can be further inside, you should check the dials first to eliminate them Quote

graywood Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 speedo-fix I know this is in swedish, but basically it says that the four pins on the next-to-last picture need thorough cleaning. It's probably just poor connection somewhere, most likely here. Also, the last picture shows where the four pins are soldered to the print. These sometimes need resoldering. So, get in your dash and clean the pins, check if it needs resoldering and get it all together again. Job done :D Quote

candpdoyle Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Hello mate. Just bought mine a couple of weeks ago and am happy as larry with it, although it does have a few little probs. I am running on a 50/50 mix of cooking oil diesel and there are no issues yet... starts as normal(it is pretty warm here in devon at the moment) so i am going to up the cooking oil to 60% this week CheersChris Quote

Guest Colin Hunter Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Be carefull of the amount of cooking oil you use. The plastic pipes and rubber seals in the system may not tolerate too high a concentration. Too much may lead to softening of the materials and eventual failure! Be Warned! :( Quote

candpdoyle Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Hi There shropshire man!! sorry for the delay in replying, but the email notification does not seem to be working.. :( My car is standard, and have always used a diesel and oil mix in all my diesel cars... the general consensus is bosch pump good/ lucas pump bad...although.. in all my landrovers i have used a wide variety of fuels Wvo neat, mixed with diesel, sometimes uco/wvo mix and many combinations to try and find a good power to economy mix... only ever had one injector pump fail and that was on a standard landy 2.25 engine with well over 200k miles on, so could have been general wear and tear rather than the oil causing trouble... The troubles with my car are as follows... hydraulic leak (sorted)running too cool (sorted with new thermostat)suspension is very hardtrouble starting on cold mornings(may or may not be fuel related, but i think it is the glow plugs myself)drop link bush has failedno service history.. so will need a cambelt for peace of mindHave just replaced all the filters and treated the old girl to an oil change The last few niggles will be sorted as and when money comes availble CheersChris Quote
