Guest steve_lichfield Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I am having a speedometer cluster problem. I bought the car with 29k miles on. 1 month later after 2 cold mornings the speedometer needle stopped working. Everything else works on it. the mileometer etc stills works 100% fine. the needle stopped working competely and now 2 months on its the cold weather and every now and then ( when its cold morning or night ) the needle seems to want to work but dont. would this be a loose wiring problem or do i need a new clock? also will i keep the mileage and do i need it programmed in ? Guest rowls Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Might be worth checking the speed sensor in the gearbox (think its located at the back of the gearbox by the diff) Quote
Guest steve_lichfield Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Might be worth checking the speed sensor in the gearbox (think its located at the back of the gearbox by the diff) someone told me that as its still clocking up the miles the speed sensoer would be fine would this be true? many thanks Quote
Guest Bmf Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Hi,I had the same problem on my 2001 2.0HDi in March 2007. I took it to my local independent garage and they told me it was the speedo that had gone, but because it was an 'all in one unit' I had to change the whole instrument cluster at a cost of £220 + labour!Problem was fixed but was expensive just to fix the speedo.
