Guest Ern Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Hi all, my 2002 C5 2.0l HPi has lost quite a bit of power, this has been a slow development. Apart from this the engine seems to be quite good, not using oil, starting very easily and running very smoothly. I have had the car for nearly 3 years and it has covered nearly 80k miles in total. When I got the car it seriously lacked power and it got a lot better after I loaded the engine by driving at around 60 mph up long and steep hills while in 4th gear, presumably this burned off some carbon build up and the effect lasted for maybe 3/4000 miles, it has now reached the stage where it is significantly underpowered and the burning process no longer seems to have any effect. I ask if any if you experts out there have experience of this happening with this engine and if so is there a remedy? It never had a lot of slow speed power and it only really comes to life at around 3,200 RPM.Fuel consumption now averages about 8.8l/Km or 32MPG down from 36+ Mpg when it was going reasonably well.
