markleigh Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Have read various posts about how fitting third party equipment can, in some cases, screw-up car's electronic systems. Considering sat-nav and a cheaper option that doesn't need to be hard-wired is the Tom Tom Go. Any views on this system? Thanks Quote
Eirian Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 the 'screwing up' of the car electronics is due to the multiplex wiring system. this can be easily resolved with some understanding. the tomtom go system, im assuming is the bluetooth pda sat nav system. i have used this and found it to work well with an acceptable number of satellites online generally. although i would recommend the all in one sat nav systems such as medion and navman, these can be found at halfords and work much better in my opinion. ham's c4vts Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 ive got a tomtom one and find it's very good, ive herd its quicker at re routing than the other tomtom's Quote
wozza Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 They are supposed to be very good but if you want a headunit style one. Which do retail at around £900 for the 7" touch screen headunits. With it built in. There not too hard to put in. Just a bmw aerial connector and a bmw iso connecter and then changing a couple of the wires on the connector around. All that had to be done on mine it just took them a while as mine is the first C4 they have ever put anything in. So was lot of checking with the multimeter to make sure was all perfect etc. And i can say it is. Quote
