Hey ,

Since I ran the battery flat last week the remote fob wont unlock/lock the doors/boot. It cant be the fobs batteries as I have two and neither work. Ive tried having the key in ignition whilst pressing the button to 'reset' it but that doesnt work either!

I wondered if Id blown a fuse somewere but the handbook gives no details of a central locking fuse anywhere, either in the car or under the bonnet.

The car locks fine when I do it manually.

TIA

Mat :)

I also have the same problem. The battery in my Xsara was changed recently, it blew the fuse for the cigar lighter (which I could change as it's listed) and the remote locking wont work, but no fuse information for that is provided.

Does anyone have more info or has anyone found a solution?

Many thanks for any ideas/help that you can provide.

The BSI unit is basically a computer which

handles a multitude of functions such as

odometer value, central locking, lights and

immobiliser. Some later Bsi units are liable

to corrupt their own software program if

not “woken up” in a specific way after

programming keys or battery disconnection.

Procedure for Initialising the BSI after key learning

1. Disconnect the diagnostic tool.

2. Put the driver’s window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all

equipment is switched off.

3. Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the

ignition.

4. Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait

15 seconds.

5. Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do

not open doors.)

6. Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.

7. Switch on the ignition and check system’s functionality.

8. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.

9.remove key open & close door test central locking system

10. Start the engine and complete the system’s check.

Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many

BSI related items.

It did take three attempts following this procedure before it worked.

This is advice only good luck Andy.

Hey, just come back to this topic. Does this work because I've tried something similar before and it did nothing....

Anyone tried this?

I've got the same problem (Xsara '99 1.6i).

Never really done some serious testing about this, but I will try one thing soon. The cables to the doors runs i a rubber loom between the door and the car. I've got a tip that pointed out it could be faulty cables there.

I will try, then come with a feedback to you as soon as possible :P

Hi All,

I've just had a new clutch fitted to my '03 Xsara VTR,

During the fitting the mechanics disconnected the battery.

This has stopped my remote central locking from working.

:(

Now I've read the 'fix' for this problem here ....

http://blog.trumpton.org.uk/2008/02/citroe...g-problems.html

It's not working for me, I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the key or car as central locking is fine, its' just the remote function not working.

So I'm guessing I need to 'reset' the computer on the car, before going through the key programming routine.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please ?

Many thanks

I've tried the reset procedure but to no avail!
