mikeblowfish Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Hi I have a ZX 1.4i Dec 1997 model 92,000 miles. I am trying to replace the clutch. I am having trouble removing the gearbox. There appears to be 4 bolts holding the gearbox housing to the engine but having removed the bolts the gearbox will only shift apart a few cms at the top. Gentle levering has not helped. Does anyone know if there are hidden bolts? Or is it likely that I need more forcefull levering? Many thanks. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Are You supporting the assembly so that there is no weight coming on the drive spline when you try to remove the "box". Also have you removed the starter motor? I THINK one of it's securing bolts goes all the way through. May be wrong on that one. Support it all on trolley jacks if you have them. One below the engine and one below the box. By adjusting the heights as you try to separate the two you will avoid the drive spline binding in the clutch plate. Cheers Hope this helps. Quote
