Chappers2k Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Excuse me for my rather newbie post but i have run into a spot of trouble recently and have searched the internet for help but with no avail. I have a citroen xantia radio that has locked up. However it will not let me re enter the code after an hr. Instead it still shows ---- in the radio display. If you hold bnd as it shows in the manual it comes up with ==== type pattern in the display. Is there any way to get around this and put the code in or just reset the thing completely. Thanks for any help on the matter Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 OK. Can't swear this will work for a Xantia radio but it works for the ZX one! What you need to do is take the radio out of the car. Have a look at the power plug (There are 3, A power, B speakers and C for the steering wheel interface.) The power plug has 8 positions in it but only 4 are used. These are A4 which is a permanent 12v supply to keep the memory, A7 which is a switched 12v supply which comes on with the key so that the radio will go on and off with the ignition if required. A6 is the lighting, and A8 which is earth. What you have to do is take the radio and (You have to take care here) connect a 12v supply (Spare battery or proper power supply NOT a cheap battery charger) across the A7 and A8 terminals on the radio. They will be the opposite way round to the plug as you look at it and should be top and bottom left OF THAT PLUG on the radio. (8 [neg] top 7 [plus] bottom). Make sure it's right or you'll damage it beyond repair! (FUBAR!) If you leave it for a while (an hour) like that it should reset and you'll be able to put your code in again. If you're unsure about doing this then go to your local dealership with a printout of my advice and ask them if it's right. I got the instructions from my local guys for the ZX. Don't see why it should be any different. The good news is that if you do blow it up you'll find a few for a song on Ebay! http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll...le=Xantia+radio Hope this helps Merry Christmas and a melodious New Year. DaveK Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 OK. Can't swear this will work for a Xantia radio but it works for the ZX one! If you have entered the incorrect code many times you will be locked out for several hours, maybe up to twelve. My old (1994) Xantia radio was reset as follows: Leave the key in ignition for twelve hours in auxiliary position, ie: so as to leave the radio powered up. The display will eventually show 'CODE'. Enter the correct number-followed by button '6'. Quote
