Guest Chilie Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Im having an intermittent issue with my front pasenger door - sometimes it wont open using either the exterior or interior handle and then sometimes it opens after four or five goes without me re-locking or unlocking - its as though something isnt quite catching any ideas if this is likely to be the latch assembly or the central locking actuator?I was kind of thinking more likely to be the latch as sometimes repeated attempts eventually succeed. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have startedt to remove the trim panel today but got rained off. Quote
myglaren Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Try pushing it closed hard from outside - or pulling it closed from inside. Spray some WD40-alike on the lock and keeper. My drivers door does this intermittently. Quote

Thanks - i will do as you say with the WD40 and give the pushing a try next time it happens, I think I may try and get a new latch mechanism as well. Quote
Guest Chilie Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 May just need a bit of realignment. Could be - i have been trying to fix it today and have put WD40 on the latch from both the outside and from behind the trim panel. I have manually shut the latch with my finger and released it at least a hundred times and its not failed once. I did notice though that the striker was more worn on the top side than any other area, im now leaving the trim panel off waiting for it to happen again so I can try triggering the central locking, pushing closed etc to see if this clears the problem, im thinking that the CL actuator may just be sticking a little. Obviously now the trim panel is off im sure it will work perfectly until i replace it! Quote
