Guest Neil S Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Hi there, Ive had 3 bolts shear on me when trying to take my wheel off to see the condition of my pads 1st with minimal pressure2nd with even less - i thought "ill need wheel off anyhow"3rd one when i was tightening it up as the other 2 had sheared! (i had loosened this first) I now have my van in my parents drive with no clue what to do next?? Any help woudl be greatly appreciated - i have had a few suggestions here advising me to get hub off - is this an easy task? many thanks for any help,Neil Quote
iannez Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 remove the brake disc so you can see the hub. there is no tension on the snapped bolts so they should not be that tight. go to b&q and buy a decent plumbers blow torch (around £10) and heat just the outside edge the the bolt hole and you should be able to unscrew them by tapping the snapped piece round using a hammer and small chisel or screwdriver. if you press the hub out you will need to replace the bearing. this method has always worked for me.
