My mot advisory suggests ball joint play. I can confirm this as it makes the odd rumble and donk from time to time. I dont mind it, (my galant had a REAL donky donk noise much louder) but will it fail the MOT with a worn ball joint?

How much to replace?

Depends which one it is. If it's the lower ball joint on the wishbone arm it's not dear (£9.50 from GSF) http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ but it really needs a special tool to change it. However Gerry GT managed it himself!

See http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=4535 for details!

If it's a track rod end (Again £9.50 from GSF THey call it a tie rod) it's no bother to change but you'll have to get the tracking done afterwards.

The Anti roll bar drop links have a small ball joint at each end which can rattle if they're worn. Again cheap as chips from GSF and a 5 minute job once you've got the wheel off.

I would imagine they mean the main one on the wishbone so have a read of Gerry's cure and make up your mind whether you want to try it!

If you don't get it done it will probably fail next time as it won't get better on it's own, and with the new style MOTs they'll know about the advisory from this time, even if you go to another test station.

Cheers Hope this helps! :D
