Hi everyone, I hope someone can help! I have always had a bit of a judder when braking, especially when braking from motorway speed.

I have had the discs and pads changed, new tyres and balancing and it still does it!

Would the tracking effect this if it was out, I did notice that when I had the tyres changed one of the front ones was quite worn on the inner side of the tyre.

Thanks in advance.

Did it do it before you had the discs & pads changed? If not, it's possible your new discs have warped. Some of the cheaper pattern parts are prone to it. Either that or the hub wasn't properly cleaned when the discs were fitted, leading to uneven running. Check the "Run out" on the discs as per the Haynes manual and have your tracking checked asap as you'll just knacker your tyres if it's out.

My son's ZX had problems with brake judder from the back brakes. Tried Everything! Rebuilt the brakes 3 times and it still did it. It got an advisory for an unevenly worn rear tyre in the MOT so I changed the wheel for the spare while I got a new tyre. The judder went and didn't judder until I put the original wheel back on with the new tyre on it, when the judder re-appeared. There was no sign of imbalance when you drove the car and the wheel balanced out ok on the machine, but with that wheel on the back it juddered under braking. Got a new (2nd hand) wheel and with that on it's OK and has been since. Just to prove it was the wheel I put it on my neighbour's ZX and Guess what! His brakes juddered!

I've never heard of a Xantia doing it but it may be worth your while changing the wheels round to see if the problem moves. The guys at my local dealers actually told me it's a known issue with the ZX. Maybe it can happen with the Xantia too.

Cheers. Hope this helps
