I've noticed a number of problems occurring with C5 rear doors but my driver's door has stuck.

Ive tried cycling the central locking via the key fob and I can hear the appropriate noises going on. I've tried unlocking with the key - again, all the appropriate noises and lights. BUT, still the door wont open. I've even tried climbing through from the passenger side to open with the interior handle but no joy.

I imagine that the mechanical actuation part of the mechanism has failed.

I'm not sure it's possible to access the mechanism by removing the interior trim on the door with the door closed because the seat is in the way AND I don't know how to do it without causing unnecessary damage.

There are a lot of C5's out there someone must have had this problem. Has anyone got the solution?

( BTW. I'm a bit fed up with clambering through from the passengers side; it's so undignified when you're trying to show a girl a good time!:-))

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi there - mine was the door sticking in the other thread, since I sprayed the mechanism with WD40 its been fine. It doesent really help you much in gettting your door open though. I was thinking mine was something to do with a failure in the mechanism because it would often feel like something just wasnt quite biting but then on the umteenth try it would open.

Someone suggested pushing the door hard closed from the outside, that may help and if you do get it open I would lubricate with lots of WD 40 and manually trigger the latch with your finger quite a few times until your sure its free again.

If this fails and you need the panel off Im guessing the fittings on the drivers door are the same as I found on the passenger door so your only real difficulty in removing with the door closed is a small Torx screw(i think thats what they are called) behind a little cap half way down the edge of the door (the edge that opens out when you open the door if you get my meaning). If you can get the cap off and remove this then the other nuts and bolts are easy with just the panel clips to deal with thereafter. You also need to remove the speaker as theres a couple more screws to take out behinde there. Panel clips are just a case of pulling, if they break new ones are pence from the main dealer and just slot in. Good Luck

Thanks, Myglaren and Chilie.

I'll give your suggestions a try. I must admit my gut feeling is that it wont be the answer as I had tried quite a lot of pulling and pushing, although not specifically pushing "IN" when unlocking.

If it works I'll let you know via this thread.

Cheers

HI, Despite my initial scepticism I gave the door a firm pull from inside and then operated the latch. Hey Presto the door swung open - problem solved.

I would have sworn that I'd tried everything, but obviously not!

The lock has now been marinated in WD40

Thanks for your help.
