Guest Kane Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Hi, firstly thanks everyone who has helped in the past. Does anyone know what else could cause a hardish ride. In the last month I have replaced the four corner spheres, engine oil and filter, air filter, front brake discs and pads, drop link bars, tyres and last weekend I drained the LHM and put Hydraflush in. Have done lots of citrobics too. I cleaned the LHM tank out and swilled the filters with petrol, will do a much thorough job when I drain the Hydraflush and put LHM+ back in. I'm just not convinced the cars ride is as comfy as it should be, the suspension rises and falls as it should, the ride height is spot on, have greased up all the linkages on the height corrector etc. It just feels like a normal car when you go over bumps etc on the road. It does not bounce around or anything like that just feels to firm. It's a 2.0HDi W Reg LX (not hydractive) Any suggestions will be most appreciated. By the way the car does sink quickly at the back when the engine is switched off but rises as it should within a few seconds of starting. Thanks everyone. Quote
Guest Kane Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Problem Solved! Just a quick mention on how I resolved the hard ride. When changing the hydraflush I noticed that after depressurising the system, the resevoir holding the fluid was full to the brim! Thus causing the hard ride (I presume). Drained the fluid, scrubbed and cleaned the tank/filters with petrol. Refilled with 2.5lts of LHM, primed the pump, closed the regulator valve and set on high setting. As you can imagine the float was well below the minimum line, I then proceded to slowly pour in fluid till it registered in between the two red marks, aprox 0.8 of a litre, did the citrobics and now the ride is like new. I think the best way to refill the fluid is do as I did and not just fill it with four or five litres of LHM as it states in the book, just check the float is in the right position after you have taken it for a drive. Even though you have a spill pipe on top of the LHM tank, mine never over-flowed when it had all that hydraflush in it. On a mates car which is the same model his float level was registering at the top of the glass when on high setting, he was complaining that the ride was quite hard. We got a large syringe and took a load out with the engine running and on high setting until the float settled in between the red marks. The ride improved immediately! I hope this helps anybody who has a hard ride after changing spheres etc. Cheers. Quote
DaveWalling Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Hi Kane, Thanks for that bit of info, I was wondering why mine was hard after the spheres had been changed. Looks like the pro had just filled it to where he thought. I actually removed approx. 2.5 Litres of excess fluid, but what a difference in the ride, still slightly hard, but a definite difference to before!! Quote
