Bought the above in October, with 55k on the clock. Had rear spheres changed and mechanic noticed not the original gearbox fitted (quote -"Someone's had a go at that with an angle grinder!!). Uh-oh! Car seems to run fine but there is lot of noise until clutch is depressed, when it quietens considerably. Mechanic thought it was clutch bearing, but a new clutch had been fitted before I bought it (mechanic confirmed it has), so he thinks probably the gearbox is responsible for the noise.

Considering a second hand unit, but understand I need to provide the numbers on the existing gearbox to ensure I get the right one. As it's not the original unit, can I use the vehicle ID number to try and track this info down, amd can I look at Peugeot 2.0HDi gearbox suppliers as well as Citroen?

Thanks for any help

Hi Jacobsladder,

Welcome to the forum, yes you can use the VIN number (Located on the drivers side of the engine bay) to get the correct part from Citroen, unsure though about getting in touch with Peugeot.

You require the VIN number to get any parts from Citroen, as this guarantees that you get the correct part.
