Hi ! :D

The brake shoes need replacing on my step daughters saxo. can anyone tell me what holds the brake drums on? On other makes such as Ford there is sometimes a countersunk screw which is in the face of the brake drums but I`m buggered if I can find any kind of securing device or get the drums off. There`re solid  (Of course, I have let the hand brake off  ) They haven`t been off for a long while by the look of them and I`m wondering if they are just rusted on!?. Any of you guys got an answer for me??

Hi Tich. My bus is 2002 but i'm sure the fittings are the same design. The drums are held on by the Stub axle nut. (the front discs are held by a screw as you expected on the hubs) When you remove the hub nut and washer, poke thro' a wheel stud hole with a screwdriver to knock the hand brake adjuster mechanism free -South west position on the off side , south east position on the near side. I then used a hub puller to get the hub free. Good luck. D.
