jamied Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Hi Ive just bought a xantia (60000 miles, 2000 2.0 hdi) and am very happy with it but there are a few queries I could do with some help on. 1. the temp gauge on the dash (ie oil temp) seems to go up and down as the engine revs alter. Obvoiusly the engine doesnt change temp that rapidly so it must be an electrical fault - any ideas? 2. When you put the suspension to its highest setting and then drop it down to normal the front stays up until you play with the switch more. is this normal or should I panic? 3. It has a very annoying alarm system with only one key with the remote control on it ( the spare is just the key no electronics). The card thing mentioned in the manual for the immobiliser code is no where to be found. Can I get the whole thing reset, a new immobiliser code and a copy of the key with remote on it made? Alternativley can the immobiliser and alarm be disabled without messing up the central locking? Cheers all Jamie Quote

micki Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 hi jamie check all earths also is the fuel gauge playing up as well? 2 anew key will cost about £80 pounds upwards and they can reprogramme them aswell try the yellow pages for a mobile locksmith (auto) a spare key with out transponder is about £10 Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 The eratic gauge is likely to be something to do with an earth or the voltage stabiliser. these things are very difficult to pinpoint. Regarding your front suspension have a look at my reply to jamied on this thread. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=5257Your Problems would appear to be similar. Regarding the keys, the car was supplied with two "Plip" keys and one plain key. The plain key is needed to programme in a new "Plip" if one is lost or fails. The best people to ask would be your nearest dealership. They will be able to supply and programme the spare key. You can't disable the immobiliser to my knowledge, it relies on a chip in the key being next to a sensor in the vicinity of the ignition lock so that only the proper key will start the car. The plain key will open the doors and turn the ignition lock but not start the car. The alarm can be disabled simply by locking the car with the key in the door rather than the "Plip". You can unlock in the normal way with the plip. Cheers Hope this helps. :( Quote
