After nearly 3 months I've finally got my VTR+ back after white van man ignored a give way and rammed the side of me. Having had a good check round I've realised I can't remember how the tools sit in the spare wheel. The repairers have put them in and there's a strap that fixes to either side of the spare wheel well that tightens the tool container down - I think that's right but should the tool container haave a lid or does it rely on the boot carpet?

Steering wheel alignment is out as well, which could be quite serious as the only damage was to the rear end and they've supposedly renewed all the rear suspension - off to get the tracking checked independantly in a couple of hours....

There is no cover as such for the tools etc just the carpet.

Put the tools in the yellow tray I think it is which sits in the middle of the wheel and then you strap it down and put the carpet over the top again thats how mine is anyway.

What Wozza said.

I have a full size alloy in the well, not the space saver, and it all fits in neatly, strapped down and doesn't rattle.

Re: steering. Yes, get it checked on a 4 wheel alignment system. It may the rear that's out of alignment if that's where you were shunted.

Probably black tray then. I just remember something bright yellow being back there. Not entirely sure what though. Just have the colour yellow in my head. Probably one of the tools.
