cobbler Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I gather that a common problem exists on the older version C5's involving involuntary electric window opening. I have a 2.0HDI estate which I am growing to love, except for this peculiar problem. The passenger door window will not stay completely shut - when it is wound up, it immediately winds back down to about half way. Also, recently both front windows occasionally open by themselves - not the most desirable of habits during winter weather!! Has anybody got fixes for any of these issues? Quote
jonly Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 Have not yet heard of any fixes for this window problem but my 2.0HDI ( 2001) has just developed the same problem, both front windows won't stay shut & wind halfway down again. Also switching on the wipers seems to trigger both windows to open ,most disconcerting!! Would also like to hear if anybody knows how to fix this. Quote
PICASSOCONVERT Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I wonder if anyone has now found a solution to this problem? My 2001 2.2HDi Estate suffered this problem once at about 3 years old - cure then was just to stop on the hard shoulder, switch everything off, wait a couple of minutes and set off again. The problem never happened to me again. My son now has the car and the problem has just re-occurred. Put the wipers on and the nearside front window goes down. The Citroen garage my son has used don't seem able to fix it, neither can his local independent Citroen garage. Quote

Once the window is wound all the way down you wind it up, it will go up in stages so you have to keep pressing the button every time it stops. When it gets to the top of its travel, providing there isn’t anything else wrong with it you should be able to hold the up button for about 5 seconds....this will reset the anti pinch position and should operate normally from then on. If there is a problem with the window regulator it may stop you doing that and you will still have the problem......you will need to do it with all your windows and then reset your clock. Now for the warning:I did one of these once, set everything up and then found the car wouldn’t start. If that happens close the doors (key in hand), wander round to the front passenger door and operate the locks using the key blade. Then back round to the drivers side and open door using blade. The car should start. If the remote control looses its memory, put key in ignition, turn it to the position before starting and press the locking button on the remote for 10 seconds. Remove the key and wait 2 minutes YOU MUST resist the urge to press it and see if it works because the car is trying to save the programmed key in that 2 minutes, you'll just make it take longer.
