since1875 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Hi all, i have removed and begining overhauling the engine from my ZX TD. I am now looking for a new car to put the engine into, I know this is a comon engine but can anyone tell me if it will bolt straight into any Citroen ZX, Xantia, Peugeot 306 and 406? or if it has to be a 1.9TD model? Also what about the gearbox will that go in also? Any help very much appreciated thanks Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 The engine will indeed fit all the cars mentioned, as will the gearbox, but it doesn't end there. The front brakes/hubs and driveshafts are specific to certain models and will also need to be replaced along with the engine/gearbox, mountings etc. unless the car was originally a TD. For instance, the 1.9 D ZX has the same driveshafts as the TD but the same brakes as the 1.4i. The TD has the brakes from the higher powered models. Also changing from petrol to diesel is possible but things like immobilisers and wiring looms all need to be taken into account. Also "modifications" such as puting a turbo engine into what was originally a non-turbo car tend to be frowned upon by the insurers, even if all you've done is make it exactly like a factory one. Best bet is to find a dead TD ZX, Xantia, Xsara, 306,406, (Even the synergie!) etc. (The list is endless!) as a home for your re-juvinated XUD. It will be a LOT less hassle in the long run. Cheers. Happy tinkering! :( Quote
