Oxymoron Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Hi,Well the Berliingo was coming up to 4 years old and 57k miles, so I decided to trade it in for a used Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDi with 18.5k miles on the clock. The Berlingo was a faithful workhorse, which never let us down, so I was sorry to see it go, but my daily commute was getting too expensive with the petrol engine!Might return to the Berlingo fold when the new model is fully on stream and they're offering the usual discount incentives!Cheerz :( Quote
northman Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 You ditched a Berlingo for a Picasso???? :( Well, now that I've got over the shock, I hope you don't mind me asking how much you got for it - and what sort of mpg you were getting. I just calculated that over the last 50 fills, my 1.6 petrol Berlingo was getting about 39.5 mpg. (Over the last 20 fills, it was actually hitting 40!) Quote
Oxymoron Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 Hi,I didn't get as much as I would have liked for my Berlingo, but then if I had sold it privately, it's mot was due this month and it needed new front tyres, dics and pads. Also I would have had to replace the windscreen, as it had a couple of large stone chips!Another Citroen dealer offered me about £500 more in part exchange, but his car was about £1k more anyway!?? You must drive with a very light foot, as the best I ever got from my car was 34mpg!...often it would dip under 30mpg! :) The Picasso hasn't the personality of the Multispace or as much storage space inside, but it drives quite well and it's nice to have a change after 4 years!Cheerz. :( Quote
northman Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I once had a Picasso as courtesy car. It was OK. Best thing about it was the 1.6 Hdi 110 engine. I really liked it. Worst was the absence of rev counter. Overall, I preferred the feel of the Berlingo. Light foot? Well, I try. And I avoid towns and cities where possible. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 What Picasso did you get? e.g Desire, Exclusive? Quote
Oxymoron Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 Hi,It's a 2.0hdi Desire 2 model....I could have gone for a newer 1.6 hdi and even considered getting a pre-reg. VTX or Desire model, but decided to just get a slightly newer reg than the Berlingo, but with a lower mileage.....At 18.5k miles it's barely run in yet!The money I've saved will go towards replacing my Nissan 300ZX, which I sold before Xmas.Cheerz. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Good Choice The Desire,. My Friend had a new C3 1.4i SX Petrol in January and his 2005 54 C3 1.4HDi Desire he had only done 8,500 over 3 years so it wasn't even run in. He's startin to miss it now as he finds this new C3 is abit greedy on Petrol. Me And The Service Manger at my local Citroen Dealer were talking about the Xsara Picasso the other day and he said if you know anyone who is thinking of getting a Picasso tell them to get a Diesel as the 1.6i and 1.8i 16v Petrol engines can be greedy on fuel like. Hi, The Desire spec seemed to be the ideal one for me, as it has the manual aircon, cd player, foglights, armrests etc., which I had on my Berlingo Desire. The Exclusive model seems relatively rare and has gadgets which I don't really need too. I'm gradually adjusting my driving style to suit the low reving diesel engine, having not driven one for about 15 years......And having adjusted the slack out of throttle cable, it's performing quite well too!I don't know if the mpg readout is accurate, but it's much more economical then the Berlingo as well!Cheerz.
